3. Allmänt. Ole Bull var en världskänd violinist och säregen världsmedborgare under sin tid. Robert Schumann skrev en gång att Bull var en av de största, på samma plan som Niccolò Paganini i fråga om snabbhet och tonklarhet. Bull var också vän med Franz Liszt och spelade med honom flera gånger.. Bull tonsatte över sjuttio verk, bl.a. Recuerdos de Habana, Et Sæterbesøg.

4. Velkommen til gudstjeneste på nett fra Kristiansand domkirke. Idag får du blant annet høre den vakre «Et sæterbesøg» av Ole Bull med Halvor Aasen på fiolin og Marianne Sødal Misje på klaver. Gudstjenesten er ved sokneprest Aud Sunde Smemo.

5. May 16,  · Ole Bull har komponert mer enn 70 verk, blant annet Recuerdos de Habana, Et Sæterbesøg, Sætergjentens søndag, I ensomme stunde og Polacca Guerriera. Ole Bull ble ikke den eneste musikeren blant Bull-brødrene. Også Oles yngre bror Edvard valgte å livnære seg som musiker, om enn med noe mer begrenset suksess.

7. Et Sæterbesøg includes references to folk fiddling with drones that I’ve always associated with the Hardanger fiddle or at least its style. The notes relate that, coupled with the words to Sæterjentens Søndag, it’s become a part of Norway’s cultural heritage.

He wrings the last drop of sentiment from the brief Sæterjentens Sondag (The Herdgirl’s Sunday, accompanied discreetly here by a string ensemble) and Et Sæterbesøg (A Mountain Vision) from –49, although the latter, a composition of greater length, encompasses a variety of moods and incorporates passages that sound like folk (Hardanger?) fiddling as well as the Paganini-like virtuosic .
