  6. Sep 12,  · 13 Question Method is great - it seems to me like a Blind Blake version of Chuck Berry. Also Across The Borderline is such a powerful song beautifully done here. Otherwise it's a bit like just Ry "coodering" songs without adding much. It's the first album of his where I don't love most of it and I'm a big fan.
  7. The first thing that struck me on playing this album is the full, expansive, bright sound. You've got Ry's own expressive slide guitar but also, among others, Flaco Jimenez giving his all on accordion, Van Dyke Parks on keyboards, Steve Douglas on sax, good ol' reliable Jim Keltner on drums, with soulful Bobby King and others on backing vocals/5(51).
  8. Label variation: correct Larry Blackmon label credit on B1 (on lots of versions, Blackmon label credit is on A1). Prob. late 80s repress, close to Ry Cooder - Get Rhythm, some B-side runouts are actually etched twice. Innersleeve with photo.4/5(7).
  9. get rhythm LP Ry Cooder Format: Vinyl. there's a version of the old Elvis hit All Shook Up, which seems to work by sheer chutzpah, and Chick Berry's 13 Question Method. Then there's the lovely six-minute ballad Across the Borderline, written by Cooder, John Hiatt & Jim Dickinson, sung sensitively by Ry, with a brief vocal interlude in /5(51).
